Receptions

Two evening gatherings are planned for hackathon participants.

Aim

This hackathon has two interconnected goals centered on Neuro-Workflow.

1. Neuro-Workflow as a Model Builder

Introduce Neuro-Workflow as a model builder for running simple brain models, with the goal of introducing its concepts and interfaces (Python API and GUI). Hands-on, participants will use dedicated, configurable nodes to assemble brain models, run simulations, and identify areas for improvement.

2. Neuro-Workflow as an AI-Friendly Research Platform

Introduce and advance Neuro-Workflow as an AI-friendly representation of existing models, pipelines, and processes. The goal is to take existing or preliminary code and structure it as nodes and workflows, making workflows reproducible on GUI, and supported and executable by AI agents.

What we will do

Using each group’s existing code as the starting point, participants will:

  1. Build custom nodes — wrap existing analysis code, models, or pipelines as Neuro-Workflow nodes, following the node creation tutorial (video guide) (new tutorials and documentation to be added)
  2. Assemble workflows — connect nodes into full pipelines, both programmatically via Python notebooks and interactively through the Neuro-Workflow GUI
  3. Run on server — execute the assembled workflows on the server from within the GUI

We would like to support the porting into Neuro-Workflow of models such as:

Digital Brain Targets

We also invite researchers working on or around the five Digital Brain targets to join, bring their current pipelines, and turn their results into AI-ready workflows:

1 Construction of a digital model to identify disease-responsible circuits using PET data
2 Construction of digital models using EEG measurement data and their application to pathological conditions
3 Mapping of gene expression, circuit structure, and circuit function between human and non-human primate brains
4 Prediction and stratification models based on large-scale brain imaging data (Innovative Brain / International Brain)
5 Construction of a dynamic causal model at the whole-brain level using fMRI data

Open Call — Contribute Your Code

Even if you are not attending the hackathon, if you have code within the Brain/Minds project that you would like to see integrated into Neuro-Workflow, we invite you to contribute. Please register, note in the comments that you will not attend, and provide a link to your GitHub repository or codebase. You are also welcome to contact us directly by email.
